A binder will be used as the reflection journal. The binders will be given to the teen at the first session. The journal will be brought to the Sunday evening sessions and used periodically in the Religion class. The binder will include three sections: Prayer, Service, and Sacrament. Included in these sections will be opportunities for personal reflections, prayers, and descriptions of service projects, information on saints, and the details of the Rite of Confirmation.
A minimum of one entry in the prayer section and the service section will be required each month. Please date each entry. Examples of entries will be given at the first session.
Prayer section:
This is your opportunity to talk with God about your thoughts and feelings about your faith. Each month you will be given a topic pertaining to the Catholic faith to reflect upon. You may write about this topic or write about what is important to you in your faith journey now. Use this section as a way to organize your thoughts in between meetings.
Service Section:
† Monthly service projects will be documented in your binder. Small projects such as volunteering to help your family, help at school or help in your parish for a few hours will be documented by filling out a service project form.
† Large service projects will be documented by giving the details of the experience and reflecting on the activity in your journal. Entries should give as much detail as possible about the event (answering the questions who, what, when, where, and how). You will also be given reflection questions to answer with each entry.
