Confirmation is the sacrament of Initiation in which a bishop or delegated priest confers the sacrament through three important ritual actions: the imposition of hands while calling forth the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the anointing with chrism on the recipient's forehead and the laying on of hands while saying "Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit." Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by sealing and confirming the baptized person in union with Jesus Christ and calling them to a greater participation in the worship and apostolic life of the Church.
The sacrament of Confirmation at Saint Adalbert is typically received during eighth or ninth grade. Older high school students are welcome to join the preparation sessions. Preparation in 2011-2012 begins in October 2011 with the sacrament being received the following September 2012. The process includes Information (regular attendance in a parish school religion program, PSR class, or youth ministry meetings; Sunday evening sessions once a month from October-May, and completing journal entries), Formation (attendance at weekly Sunday Mass, Spirit Day Retreat, Day of Reflection, and completing Service Projects).

Mission Statement
The purpose of the Confirmation Preparation Program at Saint Adalbert Parish is to provide a spiritually nurturing environment where opportunities for continuing Christian formation and education will lead to growth in faith and self-awareness. Very simply, this means that we want to create Disciples. We want our young people to learn who Jesus Christ is, where He is in their lives, and what it means to not only know about Jesus, but also what it means to be LIKE Jesus in the world today. We also want to have our young people see themselves as part of the St Adalbert’s Catholic Faith Community, and to understand the Catholic Church they are interested in being a part of as a community of believers who are inspired to live the Gospel.
